Vertical Gas Flow CO Boiler

This vertical gas flow CO boiler with horizontal tubes has been in operation since December 1994. A Schack Cyclonic Combustor is used to oxidize the 6% CO in the Regenerator I flue gas, which is then mixed with the hot Regenerator II flue gas with low CO content (0.01%). The unit produces 82,150 lb/hr of steam at 569 PSIG and 734° F, from feedwater entering at 257° F. The evaporator and economizer tubes are provided with segmented fins to augment heat transfer. Retractable sootblowers operated by air are used to keep the heating surfaces clean. All the heating surfaces are housed inside a refractory lined tower, with the stack located atop this tower. The unit is designed for forced circulation by means of circulating pumps.
