| Carbon Black Tail Gas Fired Waste Heat Boiler |
This CO gas / tail gas boiler has been in operation since 1993. Tail gas containing CO is burned inside a Schack® Cyclonic Combustor, along with fuel gas from the refinery, producing 82,700 lb/hr of steam at 640 PSIG and 761° F. This is a two-drum design, natural circulation boiler with separate superheater, economizer, and (3) pass air heater. To protect against acid corrosion, incoming deaerated water is preheated in a feedwater coil located in the drum, and the cold end air preheater tubes are made of glass. Similar units operate in Thailand, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Hungary.
